What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT use to connect to other software. The KERN MCP server is KERN's official connector: it lets your assistant look up live data in KERN ERP and KERN CRM, with your permission.
Which plans include it?
AI assistant access is included on KERN ERP Factory and Mill, and on KERN CRM Runway. Your 14-day free trial runs on Factory, so you can try it before you pay.
Do I need to install anything?
No. You paste one URL into Claude or ChatGPT and sign in with your KERN account. It works on the web, desktop and mobile apps.
Can the AI change my data?
Not today — the connector is read-only. Creating draft buyer POs, leads and follow-ups is on the roadmap, and when it arrives every change will need your approval, will be tagged “via AI assistant”, and your admin can require sign-off in KERN first.
Will my data be used to train AI models?
KERN only sends the answer to the question you asked, and only to the assistant you connected. How that assistant handles conversation data is set by your Claude or ChatGPT plan and settings — business plans of both don't train on your data by default.
Is there a usage limit?
Each person gets a daily and monthly allowance of AI lookups set by your plan, and your admin can lower it. Ordinary questions use one or two lookups each.
