Your first call in three steps
Create an API client
In KERN ERP open Settings → API & Integrations (in KERN CRM: Integrations → API clients). Pick what it may do, the role it acts as and, if you like, the IP addresses it may call from. Copy the key — it's shown once.
Try it in the sandbox
Create the sandbox and a sandbox key (kern_test_…). It's a copy of your company with sample data — nothing you do there reaches your real data or anyone outside KERN, and it doesn't count towards your plan.
Call the API
Send the key as a Bearer token. Writes need an Idempotency-Key so a retry never creates a duplicate. Check GET /public/v1/me first.
curl https://<your-kern-address>/cedge/public/v1/me \
-H "Authorization: Bearer kern_test_…"
curl -X POST https://<your-kern-address>/cedge/public/v1/masters/vendors \
-H "Authorization: Bearer kern_test_…" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: 3f6c1b1e-…" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"name":"Acme Textiles","vendorType":"VENDOR","type":"DOMESTIC","supplyType":"B2B", …}'What every integration gets
API keys or OAuth
Long-lived keys for scripts and integrations, or OAuth client credentials (15-minute tokens) for apps. Rotate with a 24-hour changeover; revoke instantly.
Only what you allow
Scopes per module and screen, the acting role's own permissions and your plan all apply — a client can never do more than you gave it.
Free sandbox
A sample-data copy of your company for testing, reset whenever you like, with its own keys.
Safe retries
Idempotency-Key on every write: repeat a request and you get the first answer back, never a duplicate order.
Clear limits
Rate-limit headers on every response, a monthly call count, and a call log you can see in KERN.
No silent breaks
v1 never removes or renames fields. Breaking changes come as a new version, announced in the changelog.
Errors that say how to fix them
Every error has a stable code, a fix and a link to the guide — and KERN's call log shows each call's request and answer.
Webhooks
Signed events the moment a PO is approved, a GRN posted or a lead created — with retries, a delivery log and Send again.
Try it in the docs
Every API in the reference can be tried right on the page with a sandbox key.
Not a customer yet?
Get a read-only demo key on sample data in a minute — Guides → Sandbox → Get a demo key.
Docs inside KERN too
Admins find the same overview, guides and reference inside KERN — Settings → API & Integrations → Docs & reference — with Try it on their own sandbox.
Partner apps
Building for many KERN customers? Their admins connect your app in a few clicks (OAuth) — see Guides → Partner apps.
SDKs
JavaScript / TypeScript and Python libraries with a method for every API, safe retries, paging and webhook checks built in.
